~ Spokane City Council has officially declared June 22, 2025, as Kids' Day in the city. The resolution, known as 2025-0044, was passed unanimously by the council and aims to recognize and celebrate the contributions of children to their families and communities.

Lisa Gardner, the City Council Communications Director, stated that establishing a Kids' Day in Spokane is a way to show appreciation for the often overlooked and underappreciated work of educators, childcare workers, advocates, and anyone who works with children.

Council Member Lili Navarrete expressed her excitement for this new holiday and encouraged families to take advantage of all the fun activities that Riverfront Park has to offer. She also highlighted the importance of providing free amenities for children who may not have access due to financial reasons.

Thanks to contributions and sponsorships from Dasani Water, SDS Realty, Catholic Charities, and Avista Foundation, Riverfront Park will be offering free admission to The Skyride, Skate Ribbon, and Looff Carrousel for children aged 12 and under on June 22. This annual celebration was approved by the Park Board in conjunction with Riverfront Park and the City's Parks and Recreation Department.

The idea for Kids' Day was brought forward by Council Member Navarrete who expressed her gratitude towards the team at Riverfront Park and their sponsors for making it a reality. She emphasized that this event would not be possible without their amazing work and dedication to the community.

Spokane residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for June 22 as they join in celebrating Kids' Day at Riverfront Park. This special day will not only provide fun activities for children but also serve as a reminder of their valuable contributions to society.
