~ Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown and Police Chief Kevin Hall have requested an independent review from the Office of the Police Ombuds (OPO) regarding the actions taken by law enforcement during the events on Wednesday, June 11. This request was made in a joint statement by the Mayor and Police Chief, who have asked for a thorough examination of all relevant sections of the Spokane Police Department's policy, as well as any potential deviations from said policy.

The OPO has been tasked with reviewing not only command operations and decisions, but also command level operations and decisions. According to Communications Director Erin Hut, this request for an independent review is a way for the department to build trust with the community they serve. It also aligns with their commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
