~ Spokane, WA - In a joint effort to address the growing issue of homelessness in the region, the City of Spokane, City of Spokane Valley, and Spokane County have signed an interlocal agreement (ILA). The agreement, signed by representatives from each jurisdiction, aims to improve coordination and efficiency in providing housing and homelessness services.
The ILA was announced by Erin Hut, Communications Director for the City of Spokane. According to Hut, the agreement represents a unified commitment to addressing homelessness across the region. By working together, the three jurisdictions hope to provide more comprehensive support for those experiencing homelessness.
One of the key components of the agreement is collaboration through regular meetings between housing and human services staff. This will allow for shared planning and data collection, as well as coordinated efforts related to the Homelessness Strategic Plan. The ILA also includes provisions for coordinated inclement weather response and joint planning and execution of the Point-In-Time Count.

In addition, the three jurisdictions have agreed to coordinate distribution of homelessness grant funds and share data collection. This will ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively in addressing homelessness in the region.
Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown expressed her support for the ILA, stating that staff from all three jurisdictions have been working closely together to build strong partnerships with shared goals. She believes that by continuing this collaboration, they can make better use of public funds and improve outcomes for those experiencing homelessness.
Spokane Valley Mayor Pam Haley echoed Brown's sentiments, emphasizing that addressing homelessness cannot be tackled alone by any single jurisdiction. She believes that this partnership will allow them to pool resources and coordinate planning efforts to better meet the needs of their community.
The ILA is seen as a crucial step towards addressing the regional crisis of homelessness in a more efficient and effective manner. By working together, these three jurisdictions hope to create lasting solutions for those experiencing homelessness in their communities.
