SPD Detectives are Investigating a Suspicious Death in West Spokane

~ Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating an unattended death that occurred on August 20th, 2026. According to Officer T. Leming, PIO for the department, officers responded to a report of a body found in the area of 4400 N. Aubrey L Parkway around 7:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased individual and immediately called for assistance from the Spokane Fire Department for recovery efforts. The Major Crimes Unit also responded to the scene to begin their investigation.

At this time, the cause and manner of death are unknown and it is unclear whether it was natural, accidental, or criminal. The Medical Examiner's Office will release the identity of the deceased and the cause of death at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Spokane Police Department.
