On Speaking Terms Hosts their first guest, Nick Hutchison from the Bookthinkers Bookclub and Podcast.
SEATTLE - Washingtoner -- Nick Hutchison, founder of Bookthinkers, a platform and podcast that reports reaching more than one million people a month, and author of Rise of the Reader, is the first guest to join On Speaking Terms, the podcast from award-winning authors Diana Colleen and Kevin Howard. The episode was released today.
The hosts and Hutchison disagree in places, and the conversation stays civil from start to finish. That is the point of On Speaking Terms, which takes on topics that could end friendships and ruin family dinners. Colleen, who says she is "pretty anti-billionaire," asks how Hutchison squares his admiration for Elon Musk's drive with his own belief in investing in experiences over money. Howard presses the guest on climate change, where Nick says he can have the most impact by improving literacy. Colleen explains why she chose not to have children, while Hutchison explains why he did. Howard also gets Hutchison to talk politics, which was a new topic for the guest to explore.

On Speaking Terms starts from the observation that at some point people forgot how to disagree without becoming enemies, and Howard and Colleen created it as their attempt to change that. "I like the idea that we should all have strong opinions but kind of hold them loosely," Hutchison says during the interview.
In "Conversation with Nick Hutchison," a 58-minute interview, Hutchison defines success as "enjoying the passage of time." He talks about how reading has changed his own life, the Bookthinkers Book Club he is launching, and what he hopes to pass on to his son.
The episode closes with a question for the audience: the hosts ask listeners to share in the comments the three books they would recommend to their own children. You can watch the full episode on YouTube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=041uUL2v9EE
