Dr. Humble presents The Science of Skin Longevity. Founder and CEO of KLOTHO SKIN discusses the Klotho longevity protein, regenerative skincare, clinical research, and the future of health.

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Washingtoner -- Longevity Academy recently welcomed Dr. Gail Humble, founder and CEO of KLOTHO SKIN and co-founder of Klotho Longevity, to the Longevity Leaders Project, an ongoing interview series exploring the people, organizations, and scientific breakthroughs shaping the future of human longevity.

The conversation explored the growing body of research surrounding the Klotho gene and protein, their potential role in cellular aging, and how KLOTHO SKIN is applying this science to regenerative skincare.

Dr. Humble has been studying the Klotho protein for nearly three decades. With a background in genetics and regenerative aesthetics, she became interested in its potential shortly after the gene was first identified in 1997.

Originally studied for its relationship to aging and age-related diseases, Klotho has since attracted growing attention for its involvement in cellular protection, oxidative stress regulation, and multiple biological pathways associated with healthy aging.

During the interview, Dr. Humble explained how Klotho protein levels generally decline with age and why researchers are increasingly interested in understanding whether maintaining or increasing these levels could help support healthier aging.

Rather than simply addressing visible signs of aging, KLOTHO SKIN is investigating how cellular processes associated with aging might be influenced through regenerative skincare.

A central focus of the discussion was the company's clinical research. Dr. Humble presented findings from laboratory studies and three human clinical studies evaluating skincare formulations containing Klotho protein and growth factors derived from conditioned stem cell media.

In one laboratory study, treated cells demonstrated a 40% reduction in DNA strand damage following ultraviolet exposure compared with controls.

Dr. Humble also highlighted findings from the company's human studies, including reported improvements in photodamage, skin texture, wrinkles, dryness, and uneven pigmentation. In a 16-patient study involving a layered skincare regimen over four months, researchers reported a 47.5% reduction in photodamage and a 61% reduction in dryness.

The discussion also explored the relationship between skin aging and biological aging throughout the body. Dr. Humble emphasized that skin is more than a cosmetic concern. As the body's largest organ, it plays essential roles in protection, immune function, temperature regulation, and overall health.

The conversation covered several key topics:
  • How Dr. Gail Humble became interested in the Klotho gene and protein and began researching its potential nearly 30 years ago
  • The relationship between Klotho protein levels, cellular aging, oxidative stress, and age-related diseases
  • How KLOTHO SKIN is applying regenerative science to support skin health and address visible signs of aging
  • Findings from laboratory and human clinical studies evaluating Klotho based skincare formulations
  • The potential connection between skin aging, biological age, and overall healthspan
  • The importance of exercise, sleep, stress management, and other lifestyle factors in supporting healthy aging
  • Emerging research involving Klotho supplementation, gene-based technologies, and future longevity interventions
  • How regenerative dermatology may evolve as researchers better understand the biological mechanisms of aging

Looking ahead, Dr. Humble discussed Klotho Longevity's interest in developing an oral Klotho protein supplement, while acknowledging the scientific and delivery challenges involved. She also described emerging research into other approaches designed to influence Klotho activity.

The interview highlighted an important shift taking place within longevity science: growing interest in addressing the biological mechanisms of aging rather than focusing exclusively on its visible effects or individual age-related conditions.

For Dr. Humble, protecting skin health is an important part of that broader mission.
