~ Spokane, Wash. - The city of Spokane is gearing up to celebrate its 22nd year as a Tree City USA with an Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The event, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature a brief Tree City USA ceremony and tree planting at noon. Residents are invited to join in on the festivities, rain or shine.
Organized by Bartlett Tree Experts and supported by Avista, the Arbor Day Celebration promises to be a fun-filled day for the whole family. Attendees can look forward to various activities such as live music, tree care and environmental education, free seedlings, and more.
One of the highlights of the event will be a demonstration by Spokane County Regional Waste Ambassadors on how to turn yard and food waste into compost for gardening purposes. In addition, Spokane County residents will have the opportunity to take home a free compost bin provided by the Washington State Department of Ecology. However, supplies are limited so residents are advised to bring proof of residency and arrive no later than 1:30 p.m.
Bartlett Tree Experts will also be giving out tree seedlings and showcasing their tree climbing skills during the event. Attendees can also participate in a raffle for a chance to win prizes including a free tree donated by Blue Moon Garden and Nursery.
