~ A Spokane Police Department officer responded to a call at an auto dealership on West 3rd Avenue on Friday, September 19th just before midnight. The call was initially reported as an argument, but upon arrival, officers discovered that one of the individuals involved had begun throwing rocks at vehicles in the parking lot.

The suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Katie L. Sims, had already left the scene by the time police arrived. However, security for the dealership contacted 911 and provided surveillance footage of the incident. Upon reviewing the footage, officers found that a total of 16 vehicles had been damaged, with some sustaining extensive damage.

The initial estimate to repair the damaged vehicles was $100,000.00 but could potentially be even higher. Officers were able to obtain a description of Sims from the security footage and identified her as the suspect.

The following day, officers in the Downtown area spotted Sims walking near 1600 West Sprague wearing the same clothes as seen in the security video from the previous night. She was taken into custody and booked into Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Malicious Mischief.

Photos of four damaged vehicles were released by SPD's Public Information Officer Daniel Strassenberg to provide evidence of Sims' actions. The incident serves as a reminder to always think before acting out in anger and causing harm to others or their property.
