~ Spokane, WA - As the summer season approaches, the City of Spokane is gearing up to provide free swim at all of its Parks & Recreation aquatic centers. Starting Monday, June 15, 2026, six pools including A.M. Cannon, Shadle, Liberty, Witter, Hillyard, and Comstock will be open for public use.

According to the official website SpokaneParks.org/aquatics, the pool hours of operation can be found for each location. In addition to free admission during open swim hours and family nights, visitors can also opt-in for notifications about pool events and closures by obtaining a SplashPass.

Similar to a library card, a SplashPass is required for all ages and serves as a free pass to access all City of Spokane aquatic centers. The pass also includes an acknowledgement and acceptance of important pool rules in place for safety purposes.

Obtaining a SplashPass is quick and easy and can be done in multiple ways. Those who have had a SplashPass in previous years do not need to renew it annually as it is completely digital with no physical card needed. The pass can be obtained at any pool during open hours or through the website SpokaneParks.org/aquatics. It can also be acquired by calling 311 or 509.755.2489 or by visiting City Hall on weekdays from 8am to 5pm.

Registration for a SplashPass takes less than five minutes but children under the age of 18 must have their parent or guardian sign the rules.

Since 2018, swimming has been made free at all City pools thanks to funding from the Parks & Recreation fund. This initiative aims to reduce barriers and increase attendance at open swim sessions while also promoting swimming as an important life skill with numerous health benefits.

For those interested in further aquatics activities beyond open swim sessions, affordable options such as swim lessons for various ages and skills levels are available at all pools. Private swim lessons are also offered. Additionally, free swim clinics for ages 3-15 will be held on Saturdays, July 11, 18, and 25, thanks to the Spokane Parks Foundation. Pre-registration is required for these clinics.

To celebrate the start of the summer season, free Neighborhood Pool Parties will be held at various locations including Hillyard on July 8, A.M. Cannon on July 22, and Liberty on August 6. These parties are produced by Make a Splash and Spokane Parks & Recreation and are limited to the first 300 people.

While concessions will no longer be offered at pools in order to provide free swim sessions, visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drinks (excluding alcohol and glass containers) to enjoy during their visit.

For those looking for a different way to cool off this summer, there are also 19 splash pads located throughout the city that offer a variety of amenities. These splash pads are free and open from 9am to 8pm daily.
