Free event brings together aspiring engineers and rocket scientists from across the state

KIRKLAND, Wash. - Washingtoner -- The Lake Washington Student Rocketry Summit (LWSRS) announces its virtual summit bringing together high school students from across Washington state for a day of rocketry education, engineering challenges, and inspiration from industry
professionals.

WHAT:
The Lake Washington Student Rocketry Summit (LWSRS) — a free, virtual event designed to
ignite passion for aerospace engineering, rocketry, and STEM among high school students
across Washington state.

Virtual (online) — accessible to all WA state high school students

WHY THIS MATTERS:
● Washington state is home to major aerospace companies (Boeing, Blue Origin, SpaceX
operations) yet many high school students lack access to hands-on rocketry and
aerospace education

● The summit bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world aerospace
engineering
● Student-organized and student-led, demonstrating youth initiative in STEM
● Free and virtual format removes barriers to access for students across the state,
including rural communities
HIGHLIGHTS:
● Keynotes: Dr. Matthew Greenhouse from NASA and Richard Mckee from FutureForward
● Poster Competition with a prize for the winner
● Dr. Greenhouse will be talking about the Hubble Telescope and Mr. Mckee will be talking
about career oppurtunities in aerospace

simply learning about science to actively building a community around it. By organizing
speakers, sessions, and hands-on learning opportunities, students develop the leadership and
technical confidence needed to pursue future work in aerospace and engineering." says
Maxwell Elliot, the club advisor.
