~ On September 3rd, 2025, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) were on the lookout for a wanted fugitive in the Spokane area. The Liberty Lake Police Department and authorities from Idaho had provided information that Colton Hite, 29, was possibly in the area. Hite had an extraditable felony warrant for parole violations and was also facing charges of assault.
The SIU detectives followed up on the case and discovered a potential address for Hite in the 900 block of West Maxwell. They were also informed that Hite may be armed and had expressed a desire to avoid going back to prison. With this information in hand, multiple specialty units including SPD SWAT, Hostage Negotiators, and the Air Support Unit responded to the residence at around 6:30 p.m.

Upon seeing Hite at the residence, officers quickly surrounded the home while communication efforts began. Eventually, Hite was located in the yard of the residence and was taken into custody without any issues. It was confirmed that he was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
Hite was then transported to Spokane County Jail where he faced charges for his outstanding warrant from Idaho as well as new charges of Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle, two counts of Unlawful Imprisonment, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment. The City Of Liberty Lake had also signed affidavits charging him with these additional offenses.
The successful arrest of Colton Hite was made possible through the diligent efforts of SIU detectives who followed up on leads provided by law enforcement agencies in both Idaho and Liberty Lake. The Spokane Police Department's specialized units also played a crucial role in ensuring a safe apprehension of Hite without any harm to officers or civilians.
