~ On September 2nd, 2025 at 10:15 a.m., the Spokane Police Department (SPD) responded to a report of an assault at the apartments located at 2882 West Elliott Drive. According to a third party who called 911, a female victim had left the location to seek medical treatment after being assaulted. The officers were informed of the names of the involved parties and discovered that there was a No Contact Order in place prohibiting the male suspect from having any contact with the victim.
Upon arrival at the apartment, officers were informed that the male suspect, later identified as Sergio Orduno-Gallegos (31), was inside with possibly two small children. Despite their attempts to contact Gallegos, they were unsuccessful. However, they were able to locate the victim and gather enough evidence to arrest Gallegos for violating the No Contact Order and two counts of 2nd Degree Assault - Domestic Violence.

Due to concerns for the safety of the children who may be in the apartment with Gallegos, multiple specialty units were called in including SWAT, Hostage Negotiators (HNT), Air Support Unit (ASU), and K9. The area was surrounded and HNT began communicating with Gallegos. Meanwhile, officers made phone calls to determine where the other minor children were located. It was eventually confirmed that there were no children inside with Gallegos.
After several conversations with HNT, Gallegos peacefully surrendered to officers at 12:30pm and was taken into custody without further incident. He was then booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of violating a Domestic Violence No Contact Order and two counts of 2nd Degree Assault - Domestic Violence.
The SPD has released images related to this incident including a police vehicle at Riverfront Park. They are also urging anyone who is a victim of domestic violence or knows someone who is to contact either the YWCA Domestic Violence Helpline at 509-326-CALL or 911.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following No Contact Orders and the dangers of domestic violence. The SPD is committed to protecting victims and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
