~ In the early morning hours of September 1st, 2025, a burglary was reported in the 5100 block of West Bismark in Northwest. The homeowner informed officers from the Spokane Police Department (SPD) that a vehicle had been broken into and the suspects had used a garage door opener to gain access to the garage. Multiple firearms were reported stolen from the scene.
Upon arrival, officers immediately began canvassing the area for any leads. Through their efforts, they were able to locate security footage of the suspects and a related vehicle, a silver Chevy Impala. The footage showed two males involved in the burglary.
The following day, on September 2nd, patrol officers spotted the same Chevy Impala parked in front of a home near 1500 North Lincoln. One of the males seen in the security footage was identified as Eric R. Peery, 30 years old.
Due to the seriousness of the crime and the theft of firearms, SPD SWAT was called in to assist with surrounding the home. A search warrant was obtained and officers entered the residence where they were able to recover several of the stolen firearms.

The investigation was further aided by detectives from SPD's Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Through their diligent efforts, probable cause was established to charge Peery with multiple crimes including Residential Burglary, Theft of a Firearm from a Building, Vehicle Prowling and 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Peery was taken into custody and booked into Spokane County Jail. However, SIU detectives are still searching for the second suspect involved in this burglary.
Images related to this incident have been released by SPD including photos of Peery and his accomplice as well as images of some of the recovered stolen firearms. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue their search for additional suspects and gather more evidence.
This incident serves as a reminder for homeowners to secure their firearms and be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. The SPD also commends the quick response and efforts of its officers in identifying the suspects and recovering the stolen firearms.
