~ Spokane, WA - In a show of respect and mourning, Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered all flags at City facilities to be lowered to half-staff. This decision comes after Governor Bob Ferguson's directive for state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities to be lowered in honor of Eastern State Hospital Security Guard Colleen Bass.
According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for the City of Spokane, the community is devastated by the loss of Bass. In a statement, Mayor Brown expressed her condolences to Bass' family, friends, and colleagues at Eastern State.

Bass tragically lost her life while on duty on Saturday, Sept. 27. As a tribute to her service and sacrifice, flags will remain at half-staff until close of business. The City of Spokane joins in mourning the loss of a dedicated member of their community.
