On October 10, 2025, just after 2:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of South Orchard Street for reports of gunfire in the area. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male victim with apparent gunshot wounds and immediately began life-saving measures. Tacoma Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Over the weekend, the victim's condition worsened, and he ultimately died at the hospital from complications related to the shooting.
During the initial stages of the investigation, detectives identified and arrested an adult male suspect in connection with the case. The suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail for Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Drive-By Shooting.
Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are investigating this incident as a homicide.
