~ Spokane Police Department Conducts Multiple Search Warrants at High Crime Location

On Friday, May 3rd, 2024, Spokane Police detectives, along with members of the SWAT team and Hostage Negotiators (HNT), executed several search warrants at a high crime location in the 900 block of East Indiana Avenue. The operation was conducted in response to over 60 calls for service that had been made since the beginning of the year.

The primary search warrant was issued in regards to a drug issue at an apartment where a 15-month-old child was residing. Upon making contact with the residents, officers detained several adults and placed the child under the care of Child Protective Services (CPS) due to safety concerns.

Following this, another search warrant was executed at the same location to apprehend a sex offender who had failed to register. The male suspect surrendered after officers verbally requested that he exit his apartment. As a result of this operation, three suspects were taken into custody and booked into Spokane County Jail.

Zachariah M. Campbell (29) was arrested for a Malicious Mischief and possessing Burglar Tools warrant, while James P. Hickman (35) was taken into custody for Violation of a Protection Order. Gary D. Salchenberg (60) was also arrested for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.

The Spokane Police Department has stated that they are actively working to address the ongoing nuisance calls at this location and will continue their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
