~ As the Labor Day holiday approaches, Spokane City residents are reminded of the closures and cancellations that will take place in observance of the holiday. According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for Spokane City, all City facilities, including City Hall, will be closed on Monday, September 1st.
In addition to the closures, there will also be changes to garbage and recycling services. Hut stated that these services will be delayed by one day after the holiday, with normal Friday services being moved to Saturday. Residents who miss their garbage day can report it online through the City's website. The Waste to Energy facility will also be closed on Labor Day.
Other closures and cancellations include on-street paid parking meters and kiosks not requiring payments on the holiday. However, Hut reminds residents that all parking rules, including time limits, still apply even when parking is free. All branches of the Spokane Public Library will also be closed on Labor Day.
The Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will also be closed for the holiday. This means that employees from both departments will not be available for in-person, phone or online customer service inquiries. However, residents can still submit requests through Spokane311.org at any time.
