45th International Symposium On Forecasting – Dates, Venue And Speakers Announced

International Institute of Forecasters
MEDFORD, Mass. - Washingtoner -- The annual International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF), hosted by the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), will be held June 29-July 2 this year at the Beijing Friendship Hotel in Beijing, China. Integrating academic research into forecasting practice, the ISF draws the world's top forecasters and researchers, as presenters and participants, to unveil and discuss the latest advances in the profession.

As the forecasting community's premier international conference, the ISF showcases the full range of forecasting sectors. This year's event features topics on macroeconomic forecasting, judgmental forecasting, electricity demand, inventory control and supply chains, forecast communication, machine learning, tourism, information technology, forecasting for public good, and many others.

"The symposium presents a unique platform for leading forecasting professionals to share their insights and expertise. The event will feature a stimulating scientific and practitioner agenda, alongside ample networking opportunities, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees. Notably, this year marks the first time in the 45-year history of the ISF that the symposium will be held on the Chinese mainland," said Yongmiao Hong, General Chair of ISF 2025, and Kwan Chao-Chih Chief Research Fellow at AMSS Center for Forecasting Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The biennial Clive Granger Memorial Keynote Address, named in honor of the late professor emeritus at the University of California San Diego and Nobel Prize laureate, will be delivered by Valentina Corradi, Professor of Econometrics, University of Surrey.

Other notable speakers include Azul Garza, CTO and Co-Founder, Nixtla; Yan Liu, University of Southern California; Anastasios Panagiotelis, Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Business Analytics, University of Sydney Business School; Pierre Pinson, Professor, Imperial College London and Chief Scientist, Halfspace; and Shouyang Wang, Director of AMSS Center for Forecasting Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In addition to the academic speakers, the 45th ISF will present the ISF Forecasting in Practice Track to meet the professional development needs of business forecasting practitioners. Forecasting professionals and industry experts from Lancaster University, iQast, Google, Prediconsult, Nixtla, Peking University, ByteDance, Squirrel Ai Learning, and Huawei Cloud BU Algorithm Innovation Lab will be presenting the latest in forecasting practice.

Yanfei Kang, Program Chair of ISF 2025 and associate professor at the School of Economic and Management, Beihang University said, "With their impressive range of forecasting applications and cutting-edge research, this lineup of speakers will deliver engaging and valuable content to this year's program."

In conjunction with the ISF, the eighth IIF Summer School will be offered June 28-29 at the same venue. The two-day course provides in-depth analysis of a cutting-edge topic in forecasting from an ISF-invited speaker.  This year's topic, Forecasting High-Frequency Seasonal Time Series, will be taught by professor Tommaso Proietti, Professor of Economic Statistics, University of Rome 'Tor Vergata'.  Attendance at the Summer School is limited.
