New dedicated DarkSky order guide gives utilities and municipalities a single, compliant path to specify RX-E1, RX-E2 and RX-E3 luminaires.

SEATTLE - Washingtoner -- Evluma today announced that its RoadMax Edge roadway luminaires have earned DarkSky Approved status under Version 3 of DarkSky International's program guidelines, which require approved luminaires to dim to 10% or less of full output. The approval covers all three sizes of the series — RX-E1, RX-E2 and RX-E3 — spanning 2,600 to 42,900 lumens and 17 to 286 watts.

Alongside the approval, Evluma has released a dedicated RoadMax Edge DarkSky Approved order guide. Every catalog number that can be built from the guide meets DarkSky criteria, so specifiers can write compliant RoadMax Edge luminaires into bids without cross-checking options against the program requirements.

What approval means

DarkSky is a recognized worldwide authority combatting light pollution. DarkSky Approved is an objective, third-party program run by DarkSky International that recognizes luminaires designed to limit skyglow, glare and light trespass. A growing number of municipal lighting ordinances and bid specifications now require it by name.

Version 3 of the program, released in 2025, requires every approved luminaire to dim to 10% or less of full output. A roadway luminaire must also limit uplight to 0.5% of total output, use a color temperature of 3000K or warmer, limit upward tilt to 5° and offer a shielding option. Version 3 also introduced a new DarkSky Approved logo, reserved for products that meet the updated requirements.

The dedicated DarkSky order guide

One condition of Version 3 certification is the publication of an ordering matrix limited to DarkSky-compliant codes, and DarkSky states a preference for a fully dedicated spec sheet. Evluma took the dedicated route.

A new, four-page guide limits ordering to compliant options, including 3000K, 2700K and 2200K color temperatures. It also includes an interactive catalog number builder, performance tables for all three sizes, three dimming methods and part numbers for snap-on light trespass shields.

The RoadMax Edge DarkSky Approved order guide and supporting photometric files are available now at evluma.com. RoadMax Edge is also listed in DarkSky International's database of approved luminaires.
