Sale strengthens organization's financial sustainability while preserving transitional housing for families in need

KENT, Wash. - Washingtoner -- Kent, WA – Kent Youth and Family Services (KYFS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the healthy development of children, youth, and families, announced today the sale of its Watson Manor property. The sale marks an important milestone in the organization's long-term strategy to responsibly steward its resources, invest in its mission, and sustainably expand services throughout South King County.

The sale of the 10-unit housing community represents a strategic step toward strengthening KYFS's financial position and creating new opportunities to invest in the programs and services that meet the evolving needs of the community. Proceeds from the sale will support the organization's ability to sustainably grow its services while remaining responsive to the children, youth, and families who depend on them.

"The sale of Watson Manor was a thoughtful, strategic decision that positions KYFS for continued growth and long-term sustainability," said Omar Malik, Executive Director of KYFS. "By reinvesting these resources into our mission, we can strengthen our financial position and sustainably expand services to continue meeting the evolving needs of children, youth, and families in our community."

Importantly, the sale will not displace current residents or disrupt the housing services provided at Watson Manor. Under new ownership, Catholic Community Services, the property's existing tenant, will continue to operate and use the building to provide transitional housing for families in need.

As KYFS looks to the future, the organization remains committed to expanding access to behavioral health care, early childhood education, after school and summer programming, and family support services. This transition reflects KYFS's ongoing focus on responsible stewardship of its resources to ensure impact for generations to come.
