~ In a recent press release, the Tacoma Police Department announced the launch of their new public comment portal, introduced in March 2023. This portal is part of the department's accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), which only 3 percent of police agencies nationwide hold.

As an accredited department, the Tacoma Police Department undergoes regular assessments to ensure they are upholding the highest standards of contemporary law enforcement in areas such as policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services.
