~ Tacoma Landmarks Preservation Commission Seeks Nominations for Historic Preservation Awards
The Tacoma Landmarks Preservation Commission is currently accepting nominations for the annual Historic Preservation Awards. These awards recognize individuals and projects that are dedicated to preserving the rich history of Tacoma. The deadline to submit nominations is April 1, 2025.
According to Maria Lee, the Media and Communications representative for the City of Tacoma, the awards aim to honor those who are actively working towards keeping Tacoma's history alive. There are twelve award categories, including Sustainability, Housing, and Broadening Perspectives which focuses on raising awareness of under-documented or underrepresented historical narratives.

Other categories include Career Achievement, Commercial Renovation, Community Engagement, Heritage/Legacy Business, Innovation in Preservation and Outreach, Landmark Nomination, Leadership in Preservation, Partnerships in Preservation, and Residential Renovation.
Nominations can be submitted online through the city's website until April 1. The winners will be announced at an in-person awards ceremony projected to take place in late May. More details about the event will be posted on the city's website and social media platforms.
