~ Tacoma, Wash. - After months of renovations, the Council Chambers in the Tacoma Municipal Building have been modernized and are now ready to host meetings and study sessions once again. The project, which aimed to create a more efficient and effective space for city officials to engage with residents, businesses, and community partners, was completed on July 8th.
One of the major changes in the new configuration is the addition of a large conference table in front of the dais. This will allow for more face-to-face discussions between the City Council and community leaders during study sessions and other meetings. The technology in the room has also been updated to support hybrid meetings with both in-person and virtual attendees.

Starting tomorrow, July 9th, the City Council's noon study sessions and 5 PM meetings will resume in Council Chambers on Tuesdays as scheduled. These meetings will continue to be conducted in a hybrid format, providing options for both virtual and in-person attendance. For those unable to attend, they can be viewed live on TV Tacoma, tvtacoma.com, or Facebook LIVE at facebook.com/cityoftacoma.
Detailed meeting agendas and access information can be found on cityoftacoma.legistar.com. Additionally, recordings of past meetings are available for viewing.
Residents with questions about city services can still reach out to the Tacoma FIRST 311 Customer Support Center through various channels such as the Tacoma FIRST 311 mobile app or by dialing 311 within city limits or (253) 591-5000 from outside Tacoma.
The completion of this modernization project marks another step forward for the City of Tacoma's ongoing efforts to better serve its community members.
