~ Spokane Police, along with neighboring agencies, are currently investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred near W. Airport Drive and S. Spotted Rd. The call came in around 7:30 am this morning, May 8th, 2026. According to Officer T. Leming, Public Information Officer for the Spokane Police Department, the Major Crimes unit has taken over the investigation.
The collision resulted in one fatality and three individuals being transported to local hospitals with serious injuries. It is suspected that alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

The identity of the deceased individual will be released by the Medical Examiner at a later date. Leming expressed gratitude to the community for their patience as SPD investigated this tragic collision.
As of now, W. Airport Dr. is open at S. Spotted Rd., but investigators are asking the public to avoid traveling westbound on W. Airport Dr. at S. Spotted Rd. as the area will be closed for several hours while crews continue their investigation.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene and are working together to determine the cause of the collision. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
