~ On the evening of February 28, 2026, a shooting occurred in the 3200 block of South Tyler Street in Tacoma. According to reports from the Tacoma Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 9:14 p.m. Upon arrival, they found four juvenile males inside a vehicle, one of whom had been shot.
The officers quickly provided medical aid to the injured juvenile until paramedics from the Tacoma Fire Department arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the juveniles had been driving through Tacoma and throwing water balloons at passing vehicles. One of the vehicles that was hit by a balloon began pursuing the juveniles. The suspect then confronted the group, robbed them at gunpoint, and shot one of the passengers before fleeing.

After an extensive investigation, detectives were able to identify a 31-year-old male as the suspect in this case. On March 20, 2026, he was taken into custody in Puyallup along with an adult female who was later released after questioning.
The male suspect has been charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the First Degree. This week, four additional counts of Felony Harassment with firearm enhancements were added to his charges.
The Tacoma Police Department is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation. They can be reached at (253)555-1234.
