~ Spokane Police Investigating Fatal Shooting on East Wellesley Avenue
On the morning of March 22nd, 2026, Spokane police officers responded to a call regarding an altercation and gunshots in the area of 1900 E. Wellesley Avenue. According to 911 callers, the incident occurred just after 7:00 am.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was critically injured and received immediate medical attention from officers until fire personnel arrived. Both victims were then transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, one of the males succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving measures.

The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was notified and has taken over the investigation. The crime scene was secured by officers, resulting in the closure of two blocks of East Wellesley Avenue for several hours. Witness statements were also gathered by authorities.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the incident is still under investigation. However, it appears to be an isolated event with no indication of an ongoing active threat to the public. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner.
