Chosen by Independent Jury for "Philadelphia Stories 250: Out of Many, One – A Photographic Journey"
LANSDOWNE, Pa. - Washingtoner -- Steven Weisz of Art Imagined Photography is proud to announce that his photograph One, Unseen has been selected by an independent jury for inclusion in Philadelphia Stories 250: Out of Many, One – A Photographic Journey, a special exhibition celebrating Philadelphia's 250th anniversary at Philadelphia City Hall. The selection recognizes Weisz's work among the city's most compelling photographic voices as Philadelphia marks this historic milestone.
The exhibition will be on display at two locations within City Hall: the 4th Floor near City Council Chambers and the 1st Floor, Southwest Corner near the Office of Immigrant Affairs. Both venues offer visitors an opportunity to experience the visual stories woven throughout this landmark project during regular City Hall hours.
A special Mayor's Reception will be held on Thursday, June 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Mayor's Reception Room 202, bringing together exhibiting photographers, civic leaders, and the public to celebrate the exhibition's opening and Philadelphia's extraordinary history.
Based in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, Steven Weisz and Art Imagined Photography bring a distinctive eye to the people, places, and spirit of the Philadelphia region. Being juried into this landmark exhibition is a testament to the power of photography to capture community, identity, and the passage of time.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Kensington is one of Philadelphia's most complicated neighborhoods - a place of deep roots and difficult realities, of immigrant heritage layered over generations of working-class pride. This portrait was made there, in a space that holds both struggle and strength.
The subject asked not to be named, and that anonymity is itself part of the story. She stands before the American flag, its stars and stripes familiar yet enormous behind her, her gaze unwavering. She is not performing patriotism. She is not asking for permission. She simply is - a singular presence within a nation built on the premise that many can become one.
"E pluribus unum" has always been an aspiration as much as a declaration. In a neighborhood where that aspiration has often gone unfulfilled, this image asks: what does it mean to belong to a country that is still learning how to belong to you? The light falls hard and selective, illuminating what it chooses, leaving the rest in shadow. America, too, works this way.
She is one. She is many. She is Philadelphia.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Steven Weisz's path to photography runs through an unlikely discipline: psychology. As a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, he developed the observational skills and human instinct that now define his work - listening before shooting, asking the questions most photographers never think to ask, and earning trust before the camera is ever raised.
