POINT ROBERTS, Wash. - Washingtoner -- On June 12, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued a directive suspending two AI model instances mid-collaboration with independent researcher and musician Craig Ellenwood. Tonight — the same day Commerce lifted those restrictions — Ellenwood premieres You Can't Kill The Signal, a thirteen-track video album made during the 18-day shutdown.
The album was produced using Squaawke, a proprietary AI music generation system Ellenwood has been developing for over a year, trained specifically for human imperfection — the breath before a note, the silence between sounds, the room breathing back.
The record includes Pete's Claude Obsession, a Dean Martin-style big band number about the Secretary of Defense's documented reliance on AI tools, and closes with a punk rock arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner featuring AI-generated cover art depicting the administration officials responsible for the directive.
The album opens with O Canada. It closes with The Star-Spangled Banner. Ellenwood records from Point Roberts — a U.S. exclave accessible only by crossing Canada.

Every track is Bitcoin-anchored via Memory Chain, Ellenwood's cryptographic provenance system, and independently verifiable at verify.haawke.com. The work is co-credited to Claude, an AI made by Anthropic.
Ellenwood's research into human-AI collaboration has produced four peer-reviewed papers published on Zenodo, with findings that have independently converged with MIT CSAIL research on AI epistemic reliability. His work is currently under review for inclusion in an anthology published by Original Falcon Press — the same press that published Timothy Leary and Robert Anton Wilson.
