~ The Spokane Police Department (SPD) is reminding the public to exercise their First Amendment rights peacefully and lawfully as a national day of Pro-Palestine/Anti-Israel protests is set for today.
Organizers are calling for protestors to shut down highways, train stations, and bridges on a national level, while activists in Spokane are promoting "Shut it Down for Palestine" and encouraging walkouts at universities and other venues.

Julie Humphreys, Public Safety Communication Manager, said that some recent protests across the nation have resulted in illegal activities. She urged everyone to exercise their right to assembly, free speech, and to petition the Government peacefully and lawfully. Those choosing to engage in illegal behavior will be subject to arrest.
