~ Spokane police officers were called to the area of 4100 N Calispel St in the early hours of June 29th after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots. Witnesses reported seeing a group of people running and vehicles fleeing the scene. The on-duty officers also confirmed hearing the gunshots over their radios.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several shell casings in the street and evidence indicating that there was a victim. They immediately began gathering witness statements and searching for surveillance footage and other evidence. A perimeter was also established for a K9 track.

Shortly after 1:00am, a nurse from a local hospital called 911 to report that a juvenile had arrived with gunshot wounds. Officers went to the hospital and spoke with the victim and an additional witness. The Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was notified and responded to take over the investigation, along with the Gun Crime Unit (GCU).
At this time, the incident is still under investigation. However, it appears to be an isolated event as those involved are believed to be known to each other. There is no immediate threat to the general public.
Officer T. Leming, PIO, stated that more information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact SPD's Major Crimes Unit at (509) 625-4041.
