~ Spokane Police responded to reports of shots fired in Riverfront Park on the night of June 25th. According to witnesses, a group of young people were walking on the Howard St. bridge when another group on scooters approached them and started a conversation. One of the individuals on a scooter then pulled out a gun and began firing at the group.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, but the victims expressed their fear for their lives. Upon arrival, officers found multiple shell casings on the bridge and were able to locate a suspect matching the description given by witnesses near Sprague and Lincoln.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Dominick J. Kirk Atchinson, was found with a weapon and was arrested for five counts of 1st Degree Assault. He has been booked into Spokane County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
Julie Humphreys, Public Safety Communication Manager, commended the quick response of patrol officers and their efforts in apprehending the suspect. She also reminded the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Spokane Police Department.
