~ As the annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count begins in Spokane, Washington, the city's Communications Director, Erin Hut, is urging volunteers to participate in this important event. The PIT Count, organized by the Spokane Regional Continuum of Care, aims to gather information about the local unhoused population and provide better services for those experiencing homelessness.
Starting on Wednesday, January 22 and continuing through Wednesday, January 29, volunteers will count and survey individuals and families living without shelter in the City of Spokane, City of Spokane Valley, and throughout Spokane County. This data will then be sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Washington State Department of Commerce to give them a snapshot of homelessness in the area.
