~ Spokane Police responded to a concerning situation on October 7th, 2024 at 7:15 a.m. after receiving multiple calls from the public. According to initial reports, a male was seen walking around the area of Francis and Maple with a gun pointed to his head and under his chin.
The 911 call takers were informed that the male was last seen in the vicinity of Wellesley and Ash, prompting local schools to be notified of the potential danger. Officers immediately began searching the area for the individual.
Eventually, the subject was located near Francis and Maple and was taken into custody without any issues. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that he was armed with a loaded handgun at the time of contact.

During their interaction with the individual, officers noticed that he was exhibiting signs of distress and making concerning statements. As a precautionary measure, they seized the firearm and transported him to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Officer Daniel Strassenberg from the Public Information Office urges anyone who may be struggling with mental health issues or knows someone who is in need of help to contact the Regional Crisis Line at 877.266.1818. Photos related to this incident, including the firearm in question, have been made available for public viewing.
