~ The City of Spokane is taking action to address the opioid crisis by offering grants for Culturally Specific Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder. The notice of funding availability was announced by Erin Hut, the Communications Director for the city.
Organizations are encouraged to apply for these grants, which aim to support the prevention, treatment, and recovery of individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) or those at risk of developing it. Despite similar rates of overdose across races, marginalized communities often face disparities in OUD outcomes due to unequal access, barriers to care, and program design.
The City's goal with this grant program is to promote culturally specific and evidence-based behavioral health treatment options that provide equal opportunities for success, stabilization, and recovery for all individuals. Additionally, proposals may also include investments in prevention efforts for historically marginalized communities. A total of $500,000 is available for funding.

To assist potential applicants, a technical assistance workshop will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 1 to 2 p.m. This workshop will be available both virtually and in person at the Central Library's Event Room B. Those interested in attending can RSVP by emailing aeverano@spokanecity.org.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. Funding will be awarded through a formal procurement process via the City of Spokane's online Procurement Opportunities portal. This initiative highlights the city's commitment to addressing the opioid crisis and ensuring equitable access to treatment for all members of the community.
