~ The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has announced that the 3A and 4A Basketball State Championship will be returning to the Tacoma Dome on March 4-7, 2026. This is part of a multi-year agreement to host several WIAA state championships in Pierce County through 2028.
The Tacoma Dome has a long-standing tradition of hosting premier high school sporting events and has become a destination for state championship competitions. This year's Basketball State Championships are expected to draw athletes and spectators from all over the state, contributing to regional vitality and generating significant economic impact for the surrounding community. In fact, last year's championships brought in an estimated $6.7 million in economic impact to the area.
The WIAA/Gesa Credit Union Basketball State Championship at the Tacoma Dome will feature the top 3A and 4A teams from across Washington. The tournament will culminate with the semi-finals on March 6 and championship games on March 7. With thousands of athletes, coaches, band members, cheerleaders, families, and fans expected to attend, state basketball continues to be a highlight of the high school sports season.

Local hotels, restaurants, and businesses in the Dome District and downtown Tacoma can expect increased visitation throughout the tournament weekend as visitors flock to support their teams. Tickets for the event are currently on sale at the Heritage Bank Box Office at the Tacoma Dome or online at ticketmaster.com. Single day and multi-day passes are available for purchase. Additionally, discounted tickets for seniors, military personnel, and students can be purchased at the Box Office. Children under five years old will be admitted free of charge.
