~ Spokane residents have until Friday, May 16 to request a disposal pass through the City of Spokane. This program, which was launched on March 3, allows residents to dispose of extra waste by distributing vouchers to the Waste to Energy Facility at 2900 S. Geiger Blvd.
According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for the city, residents were informed that passes would be available until program funding runs out. "We love to see that so many Spokane residents take pride in cleaning up their homes, alleyways, and neighborhoods and use the disposal pass program to do so," said Amber Groe, Community Program Coordinator for the Office of Neighborhood Services. "The passes are very popular and go fast once they are available. We always encourage residents to sign up for one as soon as possible."

Since March 1, over 2,400 disposal passes have been requested and a total of 197.70 tons of waste have been disposed of under the program this spring. The program is a partnership between the Office of Neighborhood Services and Department of Solid Waste.
However, those who miss out on obtaining a disposal pass this spring will have another chance in the fall. Starting August 5, passes will be available directly from Spokane's 29 recognized neighborhood councils. However, funding for fall disposal passes is limited and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents interested in claiming a pass should contact their neighborhood council for more information on how to receive one. Additionally, many neighborhoods are planning fall cleanups and residents can get involved by joining their neighborhood council at spokanecity.org/neighborhoods.
For those interested in hosting a volunteer-led clean-up day in their neighborhood council, they can email cleanup@spokanecity.org. This Neighborhood Clean-up Program aligns with the city's efforts to reduce property crime, beautify Spokane, and promote community resiliency.
