~ After almost three decades of service to the community of Spokane, Police Chief Craig Meidl is set to resign from his post. In a letter addressed to the community, Meidl expressed his gratitude for the support and encouragement he has received throughout his career.
Meidl thanked the men and women of the Spokane Police Department for their hard work in keeping the city safe. He also thanked the Spokane community for their unwavering support and encouragement towards SPD officers. Finally, he thanked his family for their understanding of his long hours and dedication to representing SPD at various events.

Meidl also expressed his gratitude towards Mayor Woodward for trusting him with leading SPD during some of its most challenging times in recent history. He wished Mayor-elect Brown success in continuing the journey to make Spokane a safe and healthy city.
Meidl concluded by expressing that he could not have done this without God's blessings and guidance throughout his career. His last day with SPD will be December 31st.
Julie Humphreys, Communications Manager, said: "Chief Meidl has been an incredible blessing and honor to work every day toward creating a safer community and working with the truly amazing men and women of the Spokane Police Department." She added that "the department is full of passionate leaders, all driven to create a safer Spokane using the tools and resources available to them."
