Spokane: 2025 Point-in-Time Count Set for Late January, Volunteers Needed

~ Spokane, WA- The Spokane Regional Continuum of Care is gearing up for their annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count, which will take place from January 21-29, 2025. This nationwide event aims to identify and better serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the local community.

According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for the Spokane Regional Continuum of Care, the information collected during the PIT Count will be sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Washington State Department of Commerce. This data will provide a snapshot of both sheltered and unsheltered homelessness throughout Spokane County.

Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of this count, stating that it helps understand community needs, inform policy, and direct resources to address homelessness with compassion. The count is conducted by volunteers who survey people experiencing homelessness in the City of Spokane, City of Spokane Valley, and throughout Spokane County.

Volunteers are needed for this event and can sign up on the organization's website. More information on volunteer registration and required training will be provided closer to the PIT Count date. For more information on the PIT Count, visit their website.
