~ At 11am on August 30th, 2024, the Spokane Police Department (SPD) received a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of 3rd and Wall in Downtown Spokane. According to the initial call to 911, the vehicle involved had fled the scene.
Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the location and began life-saving measures for the injured pedestrian. Despite their efforts, the victim ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

In response to this tragic incident, detectives from SPD's Major Crimes Unit (MCU) have been called in to assist with the investigation. As a result, the area around 3rd and Wall will be temporarily closed off to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic in order for the scene to be properly processed.
The identity of the deceased will not be released until a later time by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233, referencing case number 2024-20177321.
