Students and instructors from the Kirkland and Northgate schools showcased signature forms, weapons, and sparring at the statewide event.
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Washingtoner -- Kirkland, WA - Oom Yung Doe instructors and students from the Kirkland and Northgate schools represented the art with pride at the Washington State Martial Arts Festival in Bellevue, joining martial artists from across the region in a day of demonstrations, shared learning, and community spirit. The festival brought together a wide range of disciplines, including Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Judo, and Tai Chi - in a celebration of tradition, respect, and the unifying strength of martial arts.
Throughout the day, Oom Yung Doe showcased the depth of its training through a series of demonstrations, including hand-to-hand sparring, weapons sparring, traditional weapons forms, and the use of traditional training equipment. These displays offered spectators a rare glimpse into the system's integrated approach, where practical skill, balance, and internal strength come together through centuries-old methods.

A highlight of the day was the demonstration of Pal Gae, Oom Yung Doe's signature foundational form. Pal Gae focuses on developing coordination, strength, flexibility, and power through movements that engage all major joints of the body. Its practice builds the kind of balanced structure and endurance that students carry into both martial arts and daily life.
Oom Yung Doe looks forward to participating in future festivals and continuing to share the strength and tradition of its training with the wider community.
