One in custody in Downtown Spokane shooting

~ Spokane, WA- On the evening of June 7th, 2024, a shooting was reported in the area of Short and Division. According to Officer Daniel Strassenberg, Public Information Officer for the Spokane Police Department, multiple calls were received by 911 around 7:15pm.

Patrol officers quickly responded to the scene and found a victim with serious injuries. They immediately began life-saving measures while also detaining a male believed to be the suspect in the shooting. The suspect was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by medics and is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) were called in to assist with the investigation.

Hoyt W. Webb, 36 years old, was taken into custody and has been booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Assault. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Spokane Police Department.
