TACOMA, Wash. - Washingtoner -- TACOMA,WA: Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Hurley as its new Chief Executive Officer.
For decades, MDC has supported individuals and families across Tacoma and Pierce County through housing services, withdrawal management, behavioral health care, education, employment, and economic opportunity. This leadership transition reaffirms MDC's commitment to community strength and pathways to wellness and hope.
"Over the past several years, MDC has expanded its reach and deepened its impact across Pierce County, increasing the number of individuals served, doubling detox capacity in response to the opioid crisis, and advancing critical affordable housing partnerships," said Scott Schubert, outgoing Chief Executive Officer of MDC. "We are grateful for that leadership and excited to welcome John, whose collaborative and mission-driven approach will build on this strong foundation and guide MDC into its next chapter."

John joins MDC with over 2 decades of experience and a focus on partnership, support, and building upon the organization's existing strengths.
