DETROIT - Washingtoner -- Jackets for Jobs is joining forces with Smart & Sexy® in honor of Women's History Month with a celebratory event, Thursday, March 26, 2026 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Northwest Activities Center located at 18100 Myers Rd. Detroit, Mich. 48235. For the ninth year in a row, the organizations are partnering to empower and uplift women by helping them prepare for sustainable employment.

"Jackets for Jobs is thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with Smart & Sexy®, especially as we embark on this meaningful collaboration for Women's History Month," says Dr. Alison Vaughn, founder and CEO of Jackets for Jobs. "This alliance signifies more than just a business endeavor; it represents a shared commitment to empowering women across the nation."

Smart & Sexy® Day in Detroit, is free for attendees who will receive resources to help them navigate the workforce, personal and professional image development, and individual support. Invitations are given via Detroit at Work, to select women who are seeking employment.

The mission is to enable them to seek and secure employment and enhance the quality of their lives. Women who attend will be fitted for and receive bras and foundation garments from Smart & Sexy®, one of the largest privately held lingerie companies in the country. Through this collaboration, Jackets for Jobs aims to continue its legacy of helping women feel good about who they are while also looking good.

This year, Jackets for Jobs will honor Melia Howard, former Deputy Mayor for the City of Detroit, who is now the Director of the Detroit People Mover. She embodies a woman of strength, courage and resilience.

There will also be speakers who will edify their physical, financial and social well-being.

Comerica Bank will discuss financial literacy.

Terri King of Face The Throne is a celebrity makeup artist who will share tips on how to simplify your morning makeup and skincare routine

Since 2000, Jackets for Jobs has been a beacon in the community for professional attire and career development resources to almost 40K women in need. Teaming up with Smart & Sexy® aligns perfectly with its goal of promoting confidence and self-esteem in women from all walks of life.

Jackets for Jobs and Smart & Sexy® are members of The Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits, which is hosting events nationwide in March and April, aimed at aiding women's employment. These events will inspire women – boosting their self-confidence so that they feel assured, confident and, most of all, employable.

Smart & Sexy® Day was launched in 2012 by The Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits (formerly known as The Women's Alliance) - a national consortium of independent, community-based member organizations who provide professional attire and career skills training to low income women and men.
