~ On August 26, 2024, the City of Tacoma announced that it will be observing Labor Day on September 2. Maria Lee, the Media and Communications representative for the city, stated that all administrative offices in the Tacoma Municipal Building complex and other city facilities will be closed on this day.
However, the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (TRTC) located at 3510 S. Mullen St. will remain open from 8 AM to 5:30 PM. This means that scheduled garbage, recycling, and yard/food waste pick-ups will not be affected.

In addition, all branches of the Tacoma Public Library will be closed on August 31 in preparation for Labor Day.
It is also important to note that there will be no parking enforcement by City staff on September 2. This allows residents to enjoy their holiday without worrying about parking restrictions.
