~ Spokane, WA- Mayor Lisa Brown has issued a directive for all City facilities to lower their flags to half-staff in honor of Spokane County Sergeant Kenneth Salas. The 38-year-old sergeant was tragically struck and killed while assisting with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90.
The City of Spokane is mourning the loss of Sgt. Salas, who dedicated his life to serving and protecting the community. Mayor Brown expressed her condolences, stating, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas. He made the ultimate sacrifice while carrying out his duties and will be remembered as a hero."

In solidarity with the City, flags will remain at half-staff until Wednesday. The City also encourages residents and businesses to join in this tribute by lowering their own flags. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 20th at 1 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center to honor Sgt. Salas' life and service.
