~ Tacoma, Wash. - The City of Tacoma's biennial budget development process is well underway as department presentations begin this week. The proposed 2025-2026 Biennial Budget, which aims to align the city's services with its financial capacity, City Council priorities, and community needs over the next two years, was presented to the City Council on October 1 and is now available for public viewing at cityoftacoma.org/budgetdevelopment.
Starting tomorrow, October 8, budget presentations will take place during City Council Study Sessions. These presentations will offer a more in-depth look at how the proposed budget will impact each of the City Council's priority areas. The first presentation will focus on Utilities and Infrastructure, including Tacoma Public Utilities, Environmental Services, and Public Works.
On October 15, the focus will shift to Community Safety and Alternative Response with presentations from the Tacoma Fire Department and Tacoma Police Department. This will be followed by presentations on Affordable Housing and Homelessness & Economic Development on October 22. These presentations will cover Planning and Development Services, Neighborhood and Community Services, and Community and Economic Development.

The final budget presentation on October 29 will cover Tacoma Venues and Events as well as Internal Services such as Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, and the City Manager's Office.
