At 8:58 AM June 20, 2022, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to the report of a person in the Spokane River adjacent to Glover Park (nearest address 1300 West Main Avenue). The first company arrived within five minutes and observed an adult male clinging to a tree in the Spokane River, approximately 10-15 feet from the shoreline. The flow in the river at Spokane this morning is about 24800 cubic feet per second (CFS), making conditions hazardous.

Communication was established with the victim by shore teams, and the adult male reported minor injuries. The victim was outfitted with a personal flotation device and secured to avoid being lost to the current. Using the technical and water team's equipment, he was safely removed via a structural system built with a ladder and ropes manipulated by firefighters.
He was subsequently removed from the area and transported to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
