~ TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Public Library is currently seeking two individuals to fill positions on their Board of Trustees. The Library Board of Trustees is responsible for setting policies and managing the budget for the library, as well as appointing the Library Director.

According to Mariesa Bus, the media contact for Tacoma Public Library, the board is made up of five members who are nominated by the Mayor and appointed by a majority vote from the City Council. The term for each member is five years and all must reside within Tacoma city limits.

The library's mission is to "empower our community by bringing people together to discover, connect, create, learn, and thrive," as stated on their website tacomalibrary.org. As such, the City of Tacoma is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity within its committees, boards, and commissions. They are encouraging individuals from marginalized communities such as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), LGBTQ+ individuals, those with disabilities, seniors, youth, immigrants and refugees to apply for these vacancies.
