~ The Tacoma Police Department will be holding a press conference on Thursday, May 14, 2026, to recognize the heroic actions of five Tacoma Public Schools employees. These individuals intervened during an aggravated assault that took place on April 30th at Foss High School.
Four of the employees will be awarded the prestigious Medal of Courage for their bravery in stepping in and protecting students during the assault. Despite the potential danger to themselves, these individuals put the safety of others first.

The fifth employee will receive the Certificate of Merit for providing lifesaving care to a critically injured student. Their quick thinking and actions helped save a life during this traumatic event.
The press conference will take place at the Professional Development Center located at 6501 North 23rd St., Tacoma, WA 98406. Media are asked to arrive at 5:30 PM with the event starting at 6:00 PM.
Journalists planning to attend are requested to notify Officer Shelbie Boyd at (253) 405-7134 or sboyd@tacoma.gov. This is an opportunity to honor and recognize these brave individuals for their selfless acts in protecting students and providing aid during a difficult situation.
