~ The Tacoma City Council is currently on the lookout for individuals to join the Local Employment and Apprenticeship Training Program (LEAP) Advisory Committee. This committee, which consists of 21 members, has 17 vacant positions that need to be filled. The council is seeking representatives from seven different constituencies, with three members from each group.

These constituencies include residents of Tacoma, construction companies working with the city, organized labor members, community-based organizations, city staff, educational institutions, and the Puyallup Tribe. The diverse backgrounds and expertise of committee members are crucial in fulfilling the City's commitment to providing training and employment opportunities for local residents on public work and improvement projects.

The LEAP Advisory Committee serves as an advisory body to review and recommend policy changes for the Local Employment and Apprenticeship Training Program. Specifically, they focus on determining appropriate adjustments to LEAP utilization requirements. The City's goal is to create a level playing field by providing training, resources, and employment opportunities for citizens to earn better wages.
